The early signing period may be over but the 2025 recruiting cycle remains ongoing for another five-plus weeks. With the Florida Gators now holding open roster spots due to the exodus of players via the transfer portal, the program accepted a commitment Monday from two-star tight end Cameron Kossmann (Chesterfield, MO).
Previously committed to Pennsylvania, Kossmann (6-foot-6, 240 pounds) did not hold offers from any other Power Four schools. He visited Florida over the weekend for an official visit where he received an offer from head coach Billy Napier and tight ends coach Russ Callaway.
Four-star Tae’shaun Gelsey (Jacksonville, FL) had been committed to UF only to flip to Florida State so he could play wide receiver earlier this month. Former four-stars Arlis Boardingham and Gavin Hill entered the portal leaving Florida even thinner at the position. Kossman is certainly a developmental prospect with the Gators hoping his traits can be molded through training and practice, though there’s no question that recruiting at the position has left something to be desired.
The addition of Kossmann marks the 14th flip for Napier since the LSU victory. While the pledge does not move Florida up the 247Sports Composite team rankings, it does put UF in striking distance of the No. 9 spot with another commitment that could come in the ensuing month.
