HISTORY / STREAKS / STATS
» Florida is 2-2 all-time against Georgetown. The teams last met on the deck of the USS Bataan in the 2012 Navy-Marine Corps Classic in Jacksonville, Florida. The game was halted at halftime due to condensation collecting on the court and did not resume.
» Donovan’s Gators are 13-7 all-time against the Big East.
» Florida has not deployed the same starting five in any of its three regular-season games thus far, and the Gators have not had the same leading scorer in any of those contests, either.
» UF is looking for its 17th consecutive season with 20+ victories. Florida’s 16-straight campaigns with that many wins is the longest streak in the SEC and fifth-longest nationally. Only eight coaches have ever won 20+ games in 14+ consecutive seasons.
» Florida learned to win close games last season, going 14-2 in contests decided by single digits; the Gators are 1-1 in such affairs this season.
» Last Monday, Miami snapped Florida’s program-record 33-game home winning streak, which dated back to Nov. 11, 2012, and was the second-longest in the nation. The Canes also broke the Gators’ school-record 25-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents, which dated back to Dec. 22, 2010.
» Florida is still on program-record 18-game winning streaks against SEC opponents overall (since Jan. 8, 2014) and at home (since Jan. 9, 2014). UF has also won a school-record nine-in-a-row over SEC opponents on the road (since Jan. 11, 2014).
» In addition to the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, the Gators will also participate in the SEC-Big 12 Challenge and Orange Bowl Basketball Classic this season.
INJURIES AND ABSENCES
» Active (2): Redshirt junior guard Eli Carter (foot), redshirt junior forward Dorian Finney-Smith (hand)
» Out (3): Redshirt junior forward Alex Murphy (transfer – fall semester), sophomore center John Egbunu (transfer – season), freshman guard Brandone Francis (academics – season)
BATTLE 4 ATLANTIS BRACKET, PRE-GAME QUOTES
» Donovan on playing in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament: “We’re really excited to be here. I appreciate all the hospitality. We got in great [Monday]. For us, it was a pretty quick trip, only about an hour. … Just excited to play Georgetown tomorrow and looking forward to the tournament.”
» Donovan on playing three games in as many days: “The only other time you’re ever fortunate to do something like this is in your conference tournament, because there’s always going to be a day between games, minimum. A quick turnaround from game to game against high-level competition. Before December, [with] our schedule, we’ll be able to find out a lot more about ourselves going forward.”
» Redshirt senior forward Jacob Kurtz on three games in as many days: “I’ve never played a significant amount of minutes, three games in three days, but you got to do a good job taking care of yourself at night, drinking, eating properly, making sure you get to bed on time.”
» Junior guard Michael Frazier on being in the Bahamas and at Atlantis: “We’re here to play basketball. I’m not worried about the resort. … I know we’re here, but understand we have a goal, and I think we understand that as a team. This is not a vacation for us. It’s the middle of the season right now. We’re going against good teams and we have to prepare to play them.”
» Redshirt senior center Jon Horford echoing Frazier’s sentiments: “It’s a business trip. I haven’t even gone outside the hotel except for when we got here. It’s all about these games and preparing ourselves to play the best that we possibly can play.”
