The Florida Gators may have a somewhat-depleted roster entering the 2019 season, but reinforcements certainly appear to be on their way. Continuing to build a solid 2020 recruiting class, the Gators received a verbal commitment Monday night from four-star cornerback Jahari Rogers (Arlington, TX).
“As I began to narrow in on one school, this decision was incredible difficult,” wrote Rogers, who initially planned to commit nearly two weeks ago on July 4. “However, with patience and determination, I knew eventually I’d find the right home for both me and my talents. Now … without further ado, I, Jahari Rogers, am officially committing to THE University of Florida.”
Rogers (6-foot-0, 170 pounds) not only committed to Florida, he chose it over home-state Texas as well as Arkansas, which he also visited during the recruiting process. Cornerback coach Torrian Gray — Rogers’ primary recruiter — and the way he develops players at the position played a major factor in his decision, Rogers told Luke Stampini of 247Sports.
Rated as the 154th prospect in the Class of 2020, Rogers is also ranked as the No. 10 overall cornerback. He becomes the fourth-highest rated player in the Gators’ class, which moved to No. 8 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings following his announcement.
