With slots in the Florida Gators’ Class of 2024 quickly filling up, high school prospects are likely being told it’s now or never to claim their space. That may well have been the case for three-star defensive lineman Kendall Jackson (Gainesville, FL), a long-time target for the Gators who finally pulled the trigger by raising his glass for the program on Wednesday.
Jackson (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) — a local product with Arkansas, Kentucky and Miami among his top four — committed toFlorida more than a week before his previously scheduled announcement date. The Gators see him as an EDGE rusher in defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong’s unit.
With Jackson now in the class as the Gators’ second commitment this week, Florida remains No. 3 nationally in the 247Sports Composite team rankings; however, it has significantly closed the gap with Ohio State, which is still holding onto the No. 2 spot.
The Gators are unlikely to finish in the top three overall at the end of the cycle given scholarship limits. Still, their average class ranking should again be near the top of teams nationally.
