With three 2017 commitments and no 2018 pledges just yet, the Florida Gators looked way into the future on Saturday when they accepted a verbal commitment from 2019 cornerback Jaleel McRae (New Smyrna Beach, FL).
McRae, who received a rare early scholarship offer from Florida on an unofficial visit, did not wait long to make his decision.
“I’m excited to say that this is my dream school so I’ve Verbally Committed To The University of Florida #DBU #BDN,” he wrote on Twitter.

There is still much to learn about McRae, who reportedly checked in at 6-foot and 190 pounds, but odds are the Gators believe in his development if they’re willing to accept a high school freshman as a member of their 2019 class.
McRae actually tore his ACL during the 2015 season, an injury that forced the two-sport athlete to miss New Smyrna Beach High School’s 2015-16 basketball campaign.
