Continuing to fill in needs across its roster, the Florida Gators added depth out of the transfer portal at the running back position. Tulane’s Cameron Carroll committed to the program and enrolled at Florida on Monday with two years of eligibility remaining.
“No place like home go gators!!! #committed #D23AMTEAM,” he tweeted.
Carroll, an unrated prospect in the Class of 2018, injured his leg in the 2022 season opener and did not play over the remainder of the campaign. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry across three seasons of action with the Green Wave and scored 12 touchdowns in 2020.
The 6-foot, 225-pounder will enter spring practice as the largest ball carrier in the running back room. The Gators badly needed another body to compete with four-star freshman Treyaun Webb for a third-string role behind entrenched co-starters junior Montrell Johnson Jr. and sophomore Trevor Etienne.
Carroll, who brings significant experience and power to the position group, is the eighth transfer Florida has acquired this offseason.
