Former Gators react as Florida exorcises demons, snaps losing streak to No. 22 LSU in The Swamp

In as typical a matchup as could be between these sides, the Florida Gators scratched and clawed their way to a breakthrough victory over the No. 22 LSU Tigers on Saturday night inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Florida prevailed 27-16 behind freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, who himself battled through a nagging hamstring injury after missing just one week of action, and a ferocious defense that sacked Lagway’s counterpart seven times in the game.

Freshman running back Jadan Baugh iced the game with a 55-yard touchdown in the final few minutes, pushing the Gators ahead by 11 points and completing a rare comeback effort under head coach Billy Napier.

Florida only trailed for 2:47 in the third quarter taking three separate leads in the contest while blowing past a team that had its number in the prior five meetings. It was Napier’s first top 25 victory in 14 months and the Gators’ first of the season after their prior five losses all came to teams ranked inside the top 15 nationally.
