The Florida Gators were unexpectedly able to bolster their Class of 2024, adding a player to the fold who was originally set to join the Texas Longhorns. On Friday, four-star defensive lineman D’antre Robinson (Orlando, FL) committed to join Florida just days after being granted a release from his National Letter of Intent with Texas.
Robinson (6-foot-4, 315 pounds) was heavily recruited by the Gators before (and after) choosing the Longhorns in July 2023. He ultimately signed his NLI with UT during the early signing period but received his release after defensive line coach Bo Davis left Texas for LSU.
Ultimately, Robinson chose Florida in his second go-around over offers from LSU, Ohio State and Texas A&M. His addition pushes the Gators up one spot to No. 15 in the 247Sports team rankings and two spots to No. 12 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
The acquisition is a huge win for new Florida DL coach Gerald Chatman, who also hauled in the Gators’ top 2025 commitment earlier this week in four-star DL Jalen Wiggins (Tallahassee, FL), the No. 55 player in that class.
Robinson also joins Florida at a key position given the program lost three blue-chip commitments along the defensive line over the final month leading into the early signing period commenced. This helps soften that blow providing a talented player at a position of need entering the season.
