Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall is off to a hot start on the recruiting trail if the program’s latest commitment is any indication. Florida on Wednesday landed five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller (Coatesville, PA), the No. 4 overall player in the Class of 2027 and one of the highest-ranked prospects that have ever committed to the program.
Hiller (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) is the top player at his position nationally and top-ranked player in Pennsylvania with UF securing his services over offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee and other top programs.
He is also the brother of Colton Hiller, the No. 3 overall basketball prospect in the Class of 2028.
Sumrall, strength and conditioning coordinator Rusty Whitt and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein all played significant roles in landing the big man across two visits to the University of Florida.
Maxwell Hiller is the first offensive lineman ranked in the top 10 nationally that the Gators have landed since Martez Ivey in 2015 and just the third in the modern era (D.J. Humphries, 2012).
