Florida football recruiting: Four-star 2028 prospects Cyion Smith, Samuel Bailey commit to Gators

Amid a massive amount of success on the gridiron, the Florida Gators are similarly gaining momentum off the field. A pair of four-star 2028 prospects – safety Cyion Smith (Blountstown, FL) and offensive tackle Samuel Bailey (Huntsville, AL) – committed to the program over a three-day span, bolstering head coach Jon Sumrall’s recruiting efforts.

Smith (6-foot-3, 160 pounds) pledged on Saturday, choosing Florida over Auburn, Louisville, Michigan and Oregon.  A long-time target of the Gators, he is rated No. 345 overall in the 247Sports Composite and became the second player to join the Class of 2028.

Bailey (6-foot-6, 290 pounds) followed suit on Monday, choosing Florida over Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee. Ranked No. 38 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 89 by 247Sports, he is another top-tier acquisition by offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, who is putting together one of the most talented rooms in the nation.

Four-star wide receiver Armani Strong (Hollywood, FL), ranked No. 164 overall by 247Sports, was the Gators’ first 2028 commitment back in June.

Florida’s recruiting classes are ranked No. 11 overall in both 2027 and now 2028 following the commitments of Smith and Bailey.
