For the second time in the last few days, the Florida Gators have flipped a commitment from in-state Miami. Four-star offensive tackle Michael Tarquin (Citra, FL) announced Monday night that he is the newest member of Florida’s Class of 2019.

Tarquin (6-foot-5, 290 pounds), is rated as the 284th overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite. He is the sixth offensive lineman to join the class and second four-star prospect for co-offensive coordinator John Hevesy.

“I have come to realize that the swamp is where I belong. I planned on the U being my home, but i continued to fall back onto the dream I have had ever since I was young, which was to be a Florida gator,” Tarquin wrote on Twitter. “With that being said, I am announcing my commitment to The University of Florida. I cannot wait to get to work in Gainesville!”

Tarquin took an official visit to UF over the weekend and follows in the footsteps of three-star OL Kinglsey Eguakun, who similarly flipped from the Hurricanes to the Gators on Sunday.

As a result of Tarquin’s pledge, Florida’s 2019 class ticked back up to No. 19 nationally and No. 9 in the SEC. The Gators still have a long way to go until National Signing Day in two weeks.
