Just days after removing himself from Florida State’s recruiting class, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. (Jacksonville, FL) committed to the Florida Gators. He had long been expected to eventually choose Florida to the point that FSU was already looking at other signal callers in the 2025 cycle.
Jones (6-foot, 196 pounds) is a four-year starter at Mandarin High School who took his team from 4-4 in the games he started as a freshman to 11-4 last season with a championship game appearance as a junior. He has been a consistent target of Gators quarterbacks coach Ryan O’Hara, according to 247Sports.
Adding Jones, the No. 238 overall player in the 247Sports Composite, further strengthen’s Florida’s recruiting in Jacksonville and recruiting class as a whole. He is a close friend of the Gators’ top commitment, five-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III (Orlando, FL), and a number of players head coach Billy Napier has targeted late in the process with the early signing period under a month away.
Florida jumped 12 spots in the 247Sports Composite team rankings to No. 33 with Jones now in the fold. As the Gators continue to add commitments, they will naturally progress up those rankings; however, given the lack of star power in the class and the limited time remaining until signing day, it is likely that the 2025 group will be the lowest-ranked class yet under Napier.
