With two week sof the 10-game SEC schedule now in the books, the Florida Gators are receiving love from college football rankings voters based on what they have seen on the field. The latest editions of those rankings were released Sunday following Week 5 action, and despite some more defensive struggles, Florida remained near the top of the top 25 polls — though it did see its positioning shift.

The Gators fell one spot to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 as it was overtaken by Georgia, which Florida jumped last week. The Bulldogs also pulled even with the Gators at No. 3 in the Coaches Poll. UF had jumped UGA in both sets of rankings last week.

This remains Florida’s highest ranking in the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll since Oct. 21, 2012.

Clemson held as the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation with Alabama firmly in the No. 2 spot, gaining ground in both rankings. In-state rival Miami had its rankings juiced again this week thanks to numerous top-10 upsets. With Tennessee, LSU and Texas A&M still in the AP Top 25, UF has four meetings with ranked opponents out of its eight remaining games this season.
