The next (great?) Florida Gators punter looks to be coming from Down Under as Jeremy Crawshaw announced early Monday morning that he has committed to continue his career in Gainesville, Florida. Crawshaw (Emu Plains, New South Wales) is a Class of 2020 prospect, and according to his announcement, will be signing a scholarship and enrolling early.
“Absolutely proud to announce I’ve accepted a full scholarship to study and play football at the University of Florida!!” he wrote. “… Can’t wait to get cracking in January. Go Gators!!”
Crawshaw (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) was the only official visitor for the Florida-Tennessee game, but that extra attention obviously paid off. It appears clear that the Gators’ combination of strong academics and athletics was a deciding factor for Crawshaw, who will be travelling over 9,300 miles to attend college.
Though he is not rated by most recruiting websites at this time, ProKicker.com – which calls itself “American Football’s Leader in Kicking, Punting, & Long Snapping Instruction” – lists Crawshaw No. 3 in its international rankings. Its top two international punters appear uncommitted at this time.
Here are two (very) short videos of Crawshaw punting.
