Former Gators in the NFL: 2013 Preseason Week 2

The 2013 NFL regular season is two weeks away from kicking off on Thursday, Sept. 5, but 41 former Florida Gators spread out over 21 teams remained on rosters while the league participated in the second full week of preseason action from Aug. 12-19.

Thirteen teams have multiple Florida players on their rosters including Miami and Washington (four); New England, N.Y. Giants and Tampa Bay (three); and Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh and Seattle (two).

Below are game statistics for every player and select news updates on some Gators for the fourth full week of training camp.

» Floyd, who injured his left knee during his first preseason game, is expected to miss the rest of the preseason after undergoing a procedure on his the extremity this week. Head coach Leslie Frazier termed it a “minor procedure,” noting that it was not arthroscopic surgery and Floyd should be ready to return for the season opener.

» Though Tebow had a horrendous game on Friday, head coach Bill Belichick said Monday that he “definitely” thinks Tebow is improving week to week. “I think if you look at the entire week last week, it would look different than the game did,” he said.

» Nelson’s knee (which was surgically repaired following a torn ACL) flared up last week; he has missed both preseason games but returned to practice as a full participant on Sunday.
DE EARL OKINE, Houston Texans*: Inactive – precautionary
» Okine was activated off the PUP list at the end of July and held out of action.
DE JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM, New England Patriots: Injured – unknown
» Cunningham fell out of favor with the coaching staff last season and is likely on the verge of being released. He has not practiced or played.
WR PERCY HARVIN, Seattle Seahawks: Injured – hip
DT JAYE HOWARD, Seattle Seahawks: Injured – knee
» Howard returned to practice during the week but sat out as a precaution.
