The still-improving Class of 2022 grew again for the second time in as many days Tuesday for the Florida Gators as three-star offensive lineman David Conner (Deerfield Beach, FL) committed to the program. His verbal pledge makes him the 13th member of the class, which is still trying to find its footing.

“100% committed,” he tweeted.

Conner (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) is barely a three-star prospect, rated No. 1,064 overall in the 247Sports Composite. Though he also had offers from Arizona and Maryland, it was a recent trip to Florida that put the Gators — his best scholarship offer to date — out in front for his services.

There’s no doubt that Conner has substantial size, but it will be up to offensive line coach John Hevesy to develop him up fundamentally as strength coach Nick Savage works on his conditioning. Conner would not be the first such prospect to be underrated coming out of high school yet potentially become something special with proper training.

With Conner now in tow, Florida jumped a few spots in the 247Sports Composite team rankings to 18th nationally, sixth in the SEC and nine spots behind in-state rival Florida State. The Gators’ 13 commitments include seven four-stars and six three-stars with Conner the lowest ranked among committed position players.
