Though 2018 linebacker David Reese (Vero Beach, FL) is listed as a three-star prospect, he’s highly sought after with offers from many of the nation’s top teams. On Saturday night, Reese decided to clean up his recruitment by making a verbal commitment to join the Florida Gators‘ 2018 class.

Reese (6-foot-3, 213 pounds) picked up offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Tennessee since January, but it always seemed to be a two-team race for his services between Florida and Miami. He chose the Gators on Saturday after taking an unofficial visit to UF on Thursday.

Linebackers coach Tim Skipper led Reese’s recruitment with running backs coach JaJuan Seider playing a major role as well.

Though he shares the same name, Reese is not related to current Florida LB David Reese, a sophomore out of Farmington, Michigan.

The younger Reese is the 15th member of the Class of 2018 for the Gators, a group that remains ranked 11th nationally. He is Florida’s 11th commitment (2018 and 2019 classes combined) in as many days.
