Continuing significant momentum on the recruiting trail over the last 24 hours, four-star wide receiver Eugene Wilson III (Tampa, FL) committed to the Florida Gators on Friday. The third straight major addition for Florida on the offensive side of the ball, Wilson is another impact player added to the Class of 2023.
“I will be furthering my education and talent at the University of Florida. #GoGators,” he tweeted Friday afternoon.
Wilson (5-foot-11, 165 pounds) committed to Florida over Texas A&M, the only other school he visited in June. A two-way player who is expected to line up in the slot, he hauled in 62 passes for 927 yards and nine touchdowns while also grabbing four interceptions for Gaither High School last season.
The No. 147 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite and 10th-best athlete in his class, Wilson is now the Gators’ highest-rated 2023 commitment. His father, Eugene Wilson II, was a second-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft who won two Super Bowls as a safety for the New England Patriots across eight professional seasons.
Florida’s 12th commitment overall and third in the last day, Wilson boosted the program 10 spots on Friday alone to 19th in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. UF has risen 20 spots overall since Thursday with the pledges of Wilson, four-star running back Treyaun Webb (Jacksonville, FL) and four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL). Wilson is also the 10th of 12 Gators’ commitments from the Sunshine State.
