One of the top ball carriers in the Class of 2023, four-star running back Treyaun Webb (Jacksonville, FL) committed to the Florida Gators on Thursday. Along with the commitment of four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) just minutes before Webb’s pledge, the Gators bounced back from a rough couple weeks with a big boost to their offensive class.

“God Got Me … Im Home #GoGators,” Webb said via Twitter.

Webb (6-foot-1, 205 pounds), the cousin of former Florida defensive back Dee Webb, committed to UF over a significant offer list including Penn State, South Carolina and Oklahoma. He carried the rock for 900 yards and 10 touchdowns across the final four games of the 2021 season as Trinity Catholic High School won the Florida 3A state championship.

The No. 162 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, Webb is considered the fifth-best running back in the nation. He immediately becomes the highest-rated offensive player in the Gators’ class and second-highest rated overall prospect behind four-star defensive end TJ Searcy (Thomaston, GA).

As the 11th pledge overall, Webb has boosted Florida to 26th in the 247Sports Composite. Combined with Stokes’ commitment, that represents a 13-spot jump from where the Gators started the day. Head coach Billy Napier reportedly played a significant role in his recruitment.

While the addition of Stokes at this time was not much of a surprise, Webb was expected to announce his college commitment on Monday. Penn State appeared to have made up a lot of ground in his recruitment and was favored by some to land his services; instead, Webb not only committed to Florida but did so four days earlier than planned.

The Gators had long been pushing for the services of four-star RB Cedric Baxter Jr. (Orlando, FL); however, the No. 46 player in the class has recently warmed up to Texas with his interest in the Longhorns only increasing since the commitment of five-star QB Arch Manning (New Orleans, LA). Florida was hoping to land both Webb and Baxter, but it’s far more likely that Webb on his own will be the star rusher in the class.
