Florida Gators basketball will get some top-tier competition on its schedule over three seasons as the men’s and women’s programs have both agreed to participate in the Jumpman Invitational each December in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event will feature the first four college programs to join the Jordan Brand playing in an extended round-robin over a three-year period starting with the 2022-23 season.

Florida will be joined in the event by Michigan, North Carolina and Oklahoma. The inaugural edition of the Jumpman Invitational will be held on Dec. 20-21, 2022, with two games played each day and all four airing on ESPN networks. The event is sponsored by the Charlotte Sports Foundation and Jordan Brand with all games played in the Spectrum Center. Subsequent dates will be announced in the future.

No details were released Thursday about the Gators’ first opponents nor whether the men’s and women’s teams will play the same rival each year. The event could expand past the 2024-25 season with more programs being added to the mix.

“These are four of the most storied and competitive programs in the game, and we’re looking forward to the interconference play,” said Danny Morrision, executive director of the CSF, in a statement. “We’re hoping this will be the start of one of the most anticipated, coveted and competitive events in all of college basketball each and every year.”
