Florida football recruiting: Four-star TE Amir Jackson commits to Gators joining Class of 2024

A month that has not been kind to the Florida Gators on the recruiting trail finally bore some significant fruit Saturday as four-star tight end Amir Jackson (Portal, GA) committed to the program. Currently listed as an athlete, he plays wide receiver for Portal High School and is expected play a significant role in the Gators offense.

Jackson (6-foot-4, 223 pounds) committed to Florida over Alabama, Auburn, Miami and Tennessee. He is rated No. 108 overall in the 247Sports Composite and listed as one of the top-10 athletes in the nation.

Making his decision while in Gainesville, Florida, on an official visit, Jackson was a primary target for the Gators, which needed a standout player at the position. New tight ends coach Russ Callaway, who has shown mighty impressive recruiting chops since taking the job, was a key to landing the prospect.

The commitment of Jackson boosts the Gators six spots to No. 16 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. Florida now has five of the top 108 players in the nation, including four of the top 53 with two five-star commitments (quarterback DJ Lagway, safety Xavier Filsaime).
