Before entering his third year with the Florida Gators, redshirt sophomore defensive back McArthur Burnett announced Thursday his intention to transfer out of the program.

“After much prayer, and talking with my family and friends. I will be transferring from UF. UF was a great organization and I enjoyed the experience,” he wrote on Twitter. “I will miss my teammates and all the wonderful UF fans. I am grateful to leave without any baggage or complaints but on my own terms and looking forward to what the future holds. With that being said my recruitment is now back open and I am looking for a home where I can continue my education and come in to be a major impact immediately for the next three years.”

A former three-star prospect out of Pahokee, Florida, Burnett took a redshirt as a true freshman and played in six games a year ago in a reserve and special teams role. He was not projected to crack the starting 11 on defense and was likely to serve a back-end reserve role again in 2018.

Burnett is the second Gators player to announce his transfer since the conclusion of spring practice, joining former three-star quarterback Jake Allen.
