Among the millions of now-unemployed industries and hundreds of affected industries, college athletics has been grinded to a halt by the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. The Florida Gators are impacted along with every other program in the nation, and their two most prominent coaches took some time out Thursday to thank those who are doing the most to keep us safe.

For head football coach Dan Mullen, his team lost a valuable spring practice session. With the Gators projected to be a top-10 team entering the 2020 season, many believe this may be the season — if it is ever played — that Florida regains control of the SEC East and makes a legitimate move toward a national championship for the 2012 season.

Head basketball coach Mike White was in the midst of leading Gators basketball to what appeared to be a momentous build. Florida was playing much better over the last few games of the regular season and was looking to enhance its NCAA Tournament seeding with a strong run in the SEC Tournament. Instead, both postseason tournaments were canceled, and the Gators ended the 2019-20 campaign with disappointment, finishing unranked after entering the season as the No. 6 team in the nation.

Mullen and White chose to put down their whistles Wednesday and speak directly to healthcare workers and other essential employees who are doing their best to keep us healthy and safe during these uncertain times. Take a look at what they had to say below.
