Continuing to add to its Class of 2024 that started hot but has hit a bit of a lull recently, the Florida Gators hauled in a developmental prospect coming out of a key on-campus recruiting weekend. Three-star safety Josiah Davis (Nashville, GA) committed to the program Monday, giving Florida an addition at a position of significant need after the 2023 season.
Davis (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) committed to Florida primarily over Kentucky and NC State.
While his offer list is not significant and he is unrated on most recruiting services, his commitment at this early juncture would not have come without a thumbs up from recently promoted secondary coach Corey Raymond, a proven developer at the position.
Davis is the fifth pledge in the Gators’ stacked but shallow Class of 2024. He joins three top-40 commitments in five-star quarterback DJ Lagway (Willis, TX) and four-star linebackers Myles Graham (Atlanta, GA) and Adarius Hayes (Largo, FL). Four-star running back Chauncey Bowens (North Palm Beach, FL), rated 210th overall in the 247Sports Composite, is one of the most underrated prospects (by recruiting services) in the nation.
