For all the chest puffing about being the top program in the Sunshine State that goes on each athletic season, the Florida Gators put their money where their mouth is against one of the team’s fiercest rivals. With regular-season games now completed in football, men’s basketball and baseball, Florida finished with a perfect mark against the Miami Hurricanes in those sports over a single season for the first time in rivalry history.

The Gators will finish the 2019-20 athletic season 5-0 against the Hurricanes with the historic perfect mark first noted by Alligator Army.

Neither UF nor UM has accomplished this previously in their regular-season meetings dating back to the 1949-50 season, which is the first time the programs played one another in all three sports.

The Gators beat the Canes 24-20 to open the 2019 football season in Orlando, Florida, with the teams squaring off in a rare Week 0 showdown, the earliest game played in college football history. Florida basketball then dominated Miami on the hardwood 78-58 during the Charleston Classic.

This weekend, UF baseball ran through UM with a three-game sweep Coral Gables. The Gators picked up wins of 2-1 in 11 innings on Friday, 7-4 in 10 innings on Saturday and 5-3 on Sunday.

Florida baseball has now won 15 of its last 18 games against Miami and 33 of the last 41 since 2009. The three-game regular series sweep is the second over the last four seasons (2017) and the first in Coral Gables since 2012.

Gators football has won two of its last three against the Hurricanes but is 5-12 against its rivals since 1978. The programs have not played regularly since 1987.

UF and UM have split their last four meetings in basketball and have matched up well over the last 30 years (6-4 Gators).

Florida and Miami recently agreed to renew their football rivalry over the 2024-25 seasons. Basketball schedules are not set that far in advance, though the teams will also likely meet on the diamond those years as well.
