Florida Gators basketball’s had a penchant for getting burned by buzzer-beating threes this season. The latest came Tuesday night in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center when a potential game-tying basket before the half suddenly turned into a five-point deficit for Florida with one of the season’s most amazing plays.
All junior center Schuyler Rimmer needed to do was flush home a tremendous pass from junior point guard Kasey Hill to send the Gators into the half even with the Commodores; however, Rimmer went up weak, got his shot blocked with tremendous effort from Matthew Fisher-Davis and saw VU’s Josh Henderson not only rebound the ball but chucking it with two hands from UF’s foul line straight into the basket at the buzzer.
Vanderbilt just drained this heave buzzer-beater from Florida’s foul line. Unbelievable. pic.twitter.com/8TM5I8EplQ

Vanderbilt took a 40-35 lead into the half against Florida and looks to make it back-to-back wins against the Gators after beating their Southeastern Conference foe 60-59 in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this season. UF is hoping to stay alive in contention for a bid in the 2016 NCAA Tournament; hopefully a play like that is not what keeps it from dancing in March.
