Florida football recruiting: ATH Arlis Boardingham commits to Gators, rounding out Class of 2022

National Signing Day may have come and gone, but the Florida Gators have nevertheless spent the last week waiting for one more high school prospect to make his decision. That finally came down Wednesday night as three-star athlete Arlis Boardingham (Van Nuys, CA) committed to the Gators as the final member of the program’s Class of 2022.

Boardingham (6-foot-4, 220 pounds), a four-star prospect as rated by 247Sports, ultimately committed to Florida over Oregon. The West Coast talent, who projects as a tight end for the Gators, was recruited by position coaches William Peagler and Keary Colbert.

With Boardingham now … on board … Florida now has 18 pledges in its Class of 2022. It also moved up three spots in the now-final 247Sports Composite team rankings with head coach Billy Napier’s transition class finishing No. 16 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC. It’s a remarkable climb considering the Gators’ class was ranked as low as 79th shortly after Napier took over in December 2021.

Florida finished four spots ahead of Florida State’s class (No. 20) in Year 3 of the Mike Norvell regime but one spot behind the transitional class at Miami (No. 15), which saw a strong close on signing day. Texas A&M, Alabama and Georgia ended up 1-3 in the rankings with a combined 15 five-star commitments.
