Four-star LB Jeremiah Moon gives Florida Gators four commits from Friday Night Lights

One day after an evening that had already reaped rewards for the Florida Gators, four-star linebacker Jeremiah Moon (Birmingham, AL) may well be the biggest get as the talented defender has committed to the program shortly after its Friday Night Lights camp in Gainesville, Florida.

“God is awesome! I am officially committed to the University of Florida! #ChompChomp,” Moon wrote on his Twitter account Saturday.

The Gators have not been bashful about going into Alabama strongholds and pulling prospects in the past, though taking one from Birmingham is another story. Moon (6-foot-4, 205 pounds), the nation’s No. 261 prospect, chose Florida out of a top four that also included South Carolina, Mississippi State and his home state team.

Like three-star defensive back Quincy Lenton (Meridian, MS), who committed to the Gators on Friday, Moon had a long-term relationship with Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins that began while Collins was with the Bulldogs.

The 17th prospect to commit to the Gators for 2016, Moon is just the third four-star prospect (per the 247Sports Composite) and fifth from outside the state of Florida to do so.
