Four-star offensive lineman Trip Thurman (Dover, DE) committed to the Florida Gators on Friday, as first reported by Scout.com.

In Gainesville, FL, to participate in the Gators’ annual Friday Night Lights camp, Thurman informed the coaching staff of his decision, something believed to be in the process of happening for quite some time.

Rivals has him ranked as the top player in the state of Delaware and 11th best offensive lineman, while ESPNU only gives him three stars.

Are we going to get any Friday Night Lights posts?

  3. SC Gator says:

It never fails to amaze me just hoe good our coaches are at cherry-picking top talent from states that might not really see much top talent. Aaron Hernandez coming out of Connecticut and Percy Harvin coming out of Virginia serve as two of the more obvious examples.

So the Gators are at eleven commits and the season hasn’t even started. Is it normal to have many this many kids committed in July? And how many scholarships do we have to give for this cycle?

  6. I think the Gators had more than 11 last year at this time. Expect 2-3 more in the coming days.

Yes, we will update you on FNL after its conclusion.

Cool news, don’t follow recruiting much, but Trip went to the high school I went to. Sounds like a great player and a great student. Will definitely make the 2011 season more exciting.
