A wave of commitments has washed over Gainesville, Florida, this week with the Florida Gators making the most of their annual Friday Night Lights spectacular. That momentum continued Saturday as four-star wide receiver Andy Jean (Miami, FL) became the fourth prospect to make a pledge to the program over the last three days.
Jean (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) committed to Florida out of a top five that included Alabama, Georgia, Miami (his hometown team) and Texas A&M. Still, it was the Gators that won the services of the reliable pass catcher, who amassed 733 yards and eight touchdowns last season.
“From the 305 to the 352 Gainesville I’m home,” he tweeted along with a video confirming his commitment.
An official visit to Florida on June 24 led to Jean announcing his top five, and it did not take long after getting him back on campus for the Gators to haul in the talented wideout from Miami Northwestern Senior High School, one of the most storied programs in the nation. In fact, he decided to stay in town overnight after originally planning to visit the Hurricanes for a cookout.
With Jean in tow, Florida jumped another spot to 12th in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, its highest position to date under head coach Billy Napier. The Gators have vaulted 11 slots since the start of the week with Jean becoming the 14th of 16 commitments from the Sunshine State.
Four-star cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson (Kissimmee, FL), four-star wide receiver Aidan Mizell (Orlando, FL) — now the top-ranked player in the class at No. 72 overall — and four-star defensive back Jordan Castell (Winter Garden, FL) have also committed over the last three days.
