2018 National Signing Day is not expected to be a stellar day for the Florida Gators as head coach Dan Mullen closes his first recruiting class on a short cycle, but that does not mean Florida is failing to make waves on Wednesday.
The Gators earned a big-time commitment early in the day from four-star defensive end Andrew Chatfield (Fort Lauderdale, FL), who committed to Florida in a massive in-state victory over Miami.
Chatfield (6-foot-2, 221 pounds), ranked No. 213 in the nation, was a target for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, who helped close the deal for his services during an official visit to the Gators back on Jan. 26.
He could play defensive end or linebacker at Florida, which is adding a talented player at a position of massive need early in the day, certainly a good start as the Gators look to close strong.
