Florida football recruiting: Four-star DB Devin Moore commits to Gators on National Signing Day

As the Florida Gators enter the relative unknown of this particular early signing period, they started the day with some positive news as four-star defensive back Devin Moore (Naples, FL) committed to the program. He becomes the second player to decide to join the Gators since head coach Billy Napier took over the team.

Moore (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) projects as a safety in college. He’s the No. 253 overall prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the 28th ranked player in the Sunshine State.

Moore committed to Florida over Notre Dame, which had long been in the lead for his services. Previously committed to the Fighting Irish, he took an official visit to Gainesville on Dec. 10 where co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney and cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond sold him on the program.

With Moore in the fold as the second-highest ranked member of the class at this time, the Gators jumped five spots to No. 74 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. He is just the eighth member of the class at this time, though that could expand later Wednesday and should grow significantly in February during the traditional National Signing Day.
