Meyer, Tebow speak to media on Monday, Oct. 26

In his weekly Monday afternoon press conference, Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer touched on a few subjects including the play of senior quarterback Tim Tebow. On Tebow’s performance in recent weeks, Meyer said, “He’s not playing at his highest level. He’s playing as hard as he can.” Meyer also refused to blame Tebow for Florida’s offensive struggles. “I don’t put it on Tim. I put it on the surrounding cast,” he said.

Tebow was next to speak with the media and said he declined to meet with them Saturday night in order to meet up with Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen. (While I am sure the meeting took place, I doubt that was the only reason he skipped his press conference.) In the conversation, Tebow said Mullen gave him his full support and told him to “go win another title.” Classy on Mullen’s part.

Insinuating that the concept of the Gators struggling on offense was overblown, Tebow responded that his concerns were with turnovers and red zone scoring. “It’s not like we’re not moving the ball,” he said.

OGGOA will update this story as more quotes are available from the press conferences.

Tebow also mentioned the locker room meeting that Coach Meyer had that was about 30 minutes. So that may have been a time issue as far as meeting with the press. Meyer obviously wanted to make sure that the team had the right mindset after some disappointing offense play against MSU and stayed strongly united. Meyer is the best active coach at recognizing the psychology of his team and wants to be proactive in regards to the mental aspects of the team.
