The best moment on Saturday in The Swamp was not the Florida Gators‘ 38-10 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, though that’s what the tens of thousands of fans in attendance came to see.
Instead, it was the Gators facilitating a surprise return to Gainesville, Florida, for U.S. Army officer Christian Denkins, who shocked his family by emerging from the tunnel as they were being honored on-field for his service in Afghanistan.
We had a special surprise for a military family during #MISSvsUF. You'll want to watch this! #USA #GoGators #MIL

Florida is not the first to pull this off and hopefully will not be the last, but every time a moment like this can be shared is a reminder of the sacrifices that military families make on a daily basis. For a Gainesville native to be able to return home during one of the biggest victories the Gators have had in years? Well, that’s just icing on the cake.
