The Florida Gators’ dominant 29-16 victory over the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night is already paying dividends in the recruiting department. Four-star 2025 running back Waltez Clark (Tampa, FL) committed to the Gators after taking in the game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

Clark (6-foot-2, 194 pounds) committed to Florida over Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State, among others. He was considered a priority target for the Gators, which will need to keep their running back room strong once junior Montrell Johnson Jr. and sophomore Trevor Etienne eventually depart for the NFL.

No doubt Clark watching the way Florida ran the ball with Etienne erupting for a career-high 172 yards on Saturday night helped confirm his commitment decision.

Rated No. 128 overall in the 247Sports Composite, Clark becomes the Gators’ first pledge in the Class of 2025. It’s quite a way to start for Florida, which presently boasts the third-ranked Class of 2024 nationally. The Gators do not yet have a blue-chip running back committed for 2024, though they added 2023 four-star Treyaun Webb ahead of this season with Webb already making an impact as a true freshman.
