1 » Florida Gators redshirt sophomore wide receiver Frankie Hammond, Jr., whose DUI case came to a close Wednesday after he reached a resolution with Alachua County court, was ticketed for a traffic violation on Aug. 31, according to court records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. Per the records, Hammond was late for an appointment with a therapist he was seeing to meet the conditions of his DUI case and, after his planned ride fell through, hopped on a moped or motorcycle to make it on time. Police cited him for not wearing headgear during the ride, which he took with a suspended license. Hammond’s original punishment – a year of probation, 50 hours of community service (and a $500 fine) – has been adjusted to a year of probation and 20 work-crew days, as Hammond has already completed 15 community service hours.

2 » Shands at the University of Florida is currently running a Chompetition for Gators fans to get their very own music video on the scoreboard at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium during the team’s last home football game of the season on Nov. 20. Listen to the song below and Do the Chomp with instructions found here!

Man, Hammond is one unlucky individual. Although he shouldn’t have been dumb enough to ride a scooter without head gear. Coulda hurt himself.

LOL, nice commercial. Gator Fever baby!

Great commercial. I’m hearing whispers that Adam tried out for a part in the commercial but was very excited to instead land the role of Kenny Powers in Eastbound & Down. Brilliant career move.

    Tim’s halo provided ample protection.

  6. When my ass was 19 years old, I changed the face of professional baseball. I was handed the keys to the kingdom, multi-million dollar deals, endorsements. Everyone wanted a piece of my s–t. Just a man with a mind for victory and an arm like a cannon. But sometimes when you bring the thunder, you get lost in the storm.

A rider is not required by law to wear a helmet in Florida. Was he ticketed on University grounds? UF could have a requirement to wear a helmet.

  8. Evan says:

If under 21 and riding a 50cc or higher scooter, you’re “required too”. But as a scooter rider on and off campus for the past 5 years, I know for a fact that the UPD and GPD rarely, if ever, enforce this rule. I see girls and guys riding all over gainesville without helmets and I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for it. I didn’t wear one for three years (stupid I know) and I never had any trouble. Very interesting that F.H got a ticket for it. Just one of those things….

  9. Apparently it was a moped, not a scooter. Story updated.
