The Florida Gators have not seen much success on the transfer portal front since the end of spring practice, but the program got a much-needed win Saturday. Former Arizona State wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, a three-star prospect out of high school, committed to join Florida for the upcoming season.

Pearsall (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) hauled in 48 passes for 580 yards and four touchdowns — rushing and passing for a total of two more — last season in the first significant action he saw in his collegiate career. Pearsall was the Sun Devils’ top receiver in 2021, leading the program in every key category.

The incoming redshirt junior ultimately chose UF over Oregon, his only other finalist. After flashed NFL potential at ASU, Pearsall has a legitimate chance to start for the Gators next season. As such, he adds a much-needed playmaking piece to an offense that was ravaged by offseason departures.

Pearsall, the No. 24 receiver and No. 158 overall player in 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings, took an extended official visit to Florida less than a month ago at which wide receivers coach Keary Colbert put on a full-court press.
