TWO BITS: Pouncey’s entourage, Hill’s issues

1 » Florida Gators center/guard Mike Pouncey already knew his answer when the higher-ups called to officially invite him to the 2011 NFL Draft. Now just days away, Pouncey is preparing to be a first-round selection and had to choose who would be joining him in the green room. According to the Chicago Tribune’s Shannon Owens, Pouncey will be accompanied by his agent, parents, brother (Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey), former teammate (New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez) and former position coach (Temple Owls head coach Steve Addazio).

2 » Plenty of NFL scouts speak to reporters under the condition of anonymity before the draft, and one did just that when discussing the mindset of Florida safety Will Hill with Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald recently. “The guy is ignorant and crazy,” the scout said when discussing Hill’s questionable off-the-field character. “I wouldn’t touch him.” Though he is still compared favorably to fellow Gators S Ahmad Black due strictly to his prototypical size and speed, the immense character concerns surrounding Hill could very well see him go undrafted or picked much later than Black in the draft.

    Condition of “animosity”??????

  2. SaraGator says:

Mike seems to love attention! Hope he lands at a good team like his brother. Surprised that Vitamin A will be with him. That’s excellent recruiting for Temple.

I haven’t heard much about Ahmad Black. What do you think his chances are on being drafted?

  3. Jen says:

    Think u meant anonymity 🙂

But with Hill, animosity makes sense too.

Weird that Hernandez will be there.

  4. ncgator says:

Beacause he seems to spend so much time in his car, somebody should make a copy of the comments on Will Hill and tape it to Jenkins windshield so he can read it when he lights up..

p.s. Anyone know if he can read?

  5. npgator says:

I think Black will make a very good NFL player.

  6. Tractorr says:

Hill has always seemed like a problem. He was good while at Florida but not great. Coming out of high school it sounded like he was going to be dominant and that never really panned out.

Now that he is gone I think people can stop hating on Addazio. If anything we should still be questioning Urban about his decision to put Addazio in the position he was in. Bottom line Addazio is probably a better coach than he was given credit for but he should not have been offensive coordinator at one of the top five programs in the country. I would put money on him surprising people at Temple (a job that does make sense for him).

I agree, Addazio was put in a o position that was over his head, wasn’t his fault, I hated him being the OC but what was he suppose to say ” I am a complete idiot at calling plays and should be removed and placed back in charge of the O-line only”… love Urban but what was he thinking? And Will Hill? That guy was a good athlete his first year when he was young and was somewhat coachable, then he turned into a complete turd and I am glad he is gone, doubt he will last two years in the league and will be lucky to get drafted…..but good choice to come out early Will. Jenkins, please take note of all of this and shape up if you are allowed to stay on this team, I know you read all of my posts on OGGOA and they are the gospel to you. 🙂 HA!

    • David says:

I dont think Addazio ever wanted to say to Urban, “its hard to coach both the OL and the OC at the same time.” I think he could have done either or just fine (specifically OL). Look, he produced two first round draft choices and Gilbert will be a high second round pick. Urban, not Addazio loves the dive play. Addazio is a killer recruiter and a great OL coach. I think he will be one hell of a HC too.

  7. Andre says:

“A blogger hacked my Twitter account.” Will Hill is a moron.

  8. jay d says:

I hope will hill goes undrafted and has to return to his home town…………….. live with his parents and gets a job at BK……he thinks he is a super star but the kid is a loser

  9. C3 says:

Jay D, wishing that on a kid with a family.. you have great character my friend.

  10. TX_Gator says:

Still don’t understand the hoopla surrounding Will Hill beyond that of his being a former ‘5-star’ recruit. Ahmad Black is the better player, the better safety, better than Will and Major Wright, IMHO.
