Florida basketball adds commit PF Will Yeguete

Just a day after securing the services of former four-star recruit and Rutgers transfer guard Mike Rosario (Jersey City, NJ), Florida Gators head basketball coach Billy Donovan added a fourth commitment to the 2010 class in three-star power forward Will Yeguete (Melbourne, FL).

Coming out of Florida Air Academy (the same high school as former Gators guard Walter Hodge), Yeguete is a big body at 6’7″, 210 lbs. He averages 15 points and 15 rebounds a game and chose Florida over Georgia Tech.

Born in France but raised in Côte d’Ivoire, Yeguete adds even more size to a Gators’ front court that is also bringing in two other forwards in four-stars Patric Young (Jacksonville, FL) and Casey Prather (Jackson, TN).

I’ll point out that Wil Yeguete averaged 15 rebounds a game for a high school team that beat Brandon Knight’s Pine Crest team and that Cody Larson is a 6-9 forward who managed to average 4 assists a game his senior year.

Both of those are valued skillsets if they translate into college.

Each of them also has not-too-shabby other teams after them in the spring signing period. Yeguete chose Florida over Georgia Tech and Indiana, while Larson has all kinds of Big Ten teams who were trying to get in on him before finding out that due to Big Ten rules it would be hard for him to stay in the conference…

Malikg, are you saying that Billy landing Larson is a high probablity, even with Patric and now Will committed to Florida?

I believe Patric will end up getting big minutes next year (around 20 per game) with the way he plays and his talent. It seems that Will and whoever else they bring in will looking more for minutes next year after UF loses the Parsons, Tyus, Macklin bunch.

I thought Billy wanted another guard in this class. Or is he going to leave that for next year with Bradley Beal and Co.?

How many Scholarships do we have available? I was under the impression we had 4.

Looks like this class is shaping up with lots of new bigs comming in especially if Billy can get Larson as well. Speaking of Patric Young there was an excellent article on him in the local paper the other day.

He’s seems to be all Gator and mentions that he has no intention of being a one and done player. We’ll see.

I would love to see the NBA take a similar approach as MLB in that you have the option to go straight into the draft or if you go to college you have to go for 2 years (instead of MLB’s 3)
