The Florida Gators on Monday night completed one of the most impressive March Madness runs in history, coming from behind for the fourth time in five games to complete a 65-63 win over the Houston Cougars and capture the third national championship in program history. Florida rallied from 12 points behind senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr., who scored nine of his 11 points in the final 8 minutes on his way to being named Most Outstanding Player for the 2025 NCAA Tournament … and perhaps in Gators history.

The celebration was on in San Antonio, Texas, at the Alamodome. Not to be outdone, the Stephen C. O’Connell Center and streets of Gainesville, Florida, flooded with fans. Gators the world over also went wild in their homes and on social media enthusiastic about the victory.

Florida not only captured its first men’s basketball national championship since 2007, it became the first and only athletic program in history to win three national titles in men’s basketball (2006-07, 2025) and football (1996, 2006, 2008).
