Gators haul in DT recruit Jafar Mann for 2012

Head coach Will Muschamp gained a verbal commitment from another large-in-stature 2012 recruit on Friday as 6’3”, 275 lbs. defensive tackle Jafar Mann (Stone Mountain, GA) announced his intention to play college football for the Florida Gators.

Mann, who will join his high school teammate – running back Mike Davis (Stone Mountain, GA) – in Gainesville, FL, visited the University of Florida with Davis in late February and obviously came away impressed.

Having received offers from at least a dozen programs, Mann chose Florida over Alabama, Georgia, Miami (FL) and others.

He is the Gators’ seventh commitment for the 2012 recruiting cycle and Muschamp’s fourth in the last month. To check out the entire list of Florida’s 2012 verbal commits, click here (read the right sidebar).

This school is going to be like Lakeland ’07. Muschamp is an awesome recruiter. I am getting so excited watching the videos on coachwillmuschamp.com. Dan Quinn and Bryant Young look amazing. Hopefully, this D is dominant and we can keep them around for a while

Damn Muschamp is on a roll. It really is great to be a Florida Gator. Jafar mann is built to play right now. His a beast and i cant wait to see him wearing the orange and blue. I expect great things from this recruiting cycle, and Muschamp is proving that he can definitly earn the trust from this recruits and the recruits probably see success for the future.

Glad to see Boom has brought the Texas mentality in locking p studs early and often with little to no defection.

Giving his father’s cell number at the end is priceless, considering the events last season

The highlight video has some interesting “commentating” haha

Great pick up though CWM is showing what he can do on the recruiting trail.

He looks good. Give him a little more coaching from Coach Young and a little more size and explosion off the ball and he will be a 1st rounder in 4 years. As long as he stays healthy and lives up to the hype. Muschamp is like a cool breeze on a hot day. REFRESHING.

dislike comments from others ethic name wise and a very nasty comment about (how much did his daddy) glad my son is not reading this. Comments like that from others these boys will not talk to you

  13. Jesse C says:

Its nice to see these kids giving their pledges this early but until they send in their LOI on NSD, its all talk. However, I do like the profile of the recruits what WM and co are targeting and if we can keep the momentum and close the deal in February 2012, we’ll be back to the top of the recuiting world.
