The 2025 NCAA Tournament thus far has been anything but easy for the No. 1 seed Florida Gators, but as the saying goes, surviving and advancing is the name of the game during March Madness. Florida did exactly that Sunday afternoon picking up a 77-75 win over the No. 8 seed UConn Huskies to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in eight years.

Senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr. and redshirt senior guard Alijah Martin combined for 43 points to lead the Gators, which trailed for all but the final 2:54 of the second half as they broke through scoring six straight baskets to end the game.

Clayton drained two clutch 3-pointers down the stretch, while Martin kept Florida afloat in the first half and grabbed a massive offensive rebound that he converted into a slam dunk as an exclamation point in the waining seconds.

The eyes of the nation were on UF and UConn as the first game of the day, and there were plenty of former Gators locked into the action. Let’s take a look at how they reacted on Twitter as Florida pulled away late to end a five-game losing streak and beat the Huskies for the first time since the 1994 NCAA Tournament.
