Three-star defensive end Tevin Westbrook (Coconut Creek, FL) did not want to wait 24 hours for National Signing Day. Just days after taking his final official visit to the University of Florida, Westbrook has committed to the Florida Gators and will become the 17th member of the team’s 2011 recruiting class.
At nearly 6’6” and 270 lbs., Westbrook is the No. 24 defensive end in his class, according to Rivals. Scout ranks him as a two-star player and the No. 181 player at his position nationally, and ESPNU gives him a 45 rating but does not list him otherwise.
Westbrook finished his senior season with 15 sacks, eight tackles for loss, three forced fumbles (two recoveries) and two blocked field goals.
Only the third commitment secured by head coach Will Muschamp, he chose Florida over South Florida, Connecticut, Purdue and North Carolina.

Very solid pickup. This kid will only get bigger and meaner.
Yeah baby! Welcome aboard Tevin!
Adam can you confirm this kids real height and wight as I have seen 235/260/270 and 6’5”/6’6”
This just off ESPN : A 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end, Tevin Westbrook of North Broward (Coconut Creek, Fla.) has picked Florida for the Class of 2011.
Not that it matters but would like to know as his pick looks like 235 and who knows on the height
His coach said 6’6 and 265…so I said approximately 6’6″ and 270…rounded it off.
Thanks for the clarification. A great pickup either way!
Just a random thought…the discrepancies in weight may be due to him playing both football and basketball in highschool. Totally different athletic builds are needed in the two different sports.
He has great measurables. These coaches must have seen something in him and his stats were impressive.
Welcome to Gator Nation, Tevin (or Gator Country as some have called it)! Hope to see some real development and progress. It’s nice to see four and five star recruits, but I’ll trust our coaches to know what they’re doing and develop some talent. The truth is, not many two stars get a chance to play for UF, so hopefully he takes advantage of the opportunity to prove Scout wrong…
Definitely a nice build to work on.
Good move Tevin. it sounds more like he needs to just work on his strength and drive more bc with a build like that in highschool he should be dominating. We will get him in shape.
15 Sacks..8 TFL…3 forced fumbles and 2 blocked FG….I think that is dominating
This kid’s a pretty good high school basketball player as well. If I’m not mistaken, he played with Brandon Knight at Pine Crest last season before transferring to North Broward. Wonder if there are any thoughts of him playing two sports at UF.
He did.
No wonder – look at the kids hands! He should be able to palm a basketball easily. 6’6” with his hands up – no wonder he can block a kick! Welcome to Gator Nation, Mr Westbrook!
We have a couple 3 star guys that have panned out – Louis Murphy. Halapio is starting. Wasn’t Lawrence Marsh a 3 star? Any other recent 3 star recruits that have been big for us Adam?
Two recent……UF’s Ahmad Black and none other than last years Heisman winner Mark Ingram. I can’t say enough that for every 5 star that kicks butt, 5, 3 stars do the same.
I don’t care what his star rating is…wheather or not he plays on saterdays doesn’t matter…if it wasn’t for some of the players on the scout team….certain starters wouldn’t know what giving ur all to a program looks like…as far as I’m concerned..welcome to the gator family
What’s the point if he doesn’t play on Saturdays? Scholarships are for players not for tackling dummies. He has nice size, hope he has half the talent of Clowney.
Dude really? I have seen people on their death bead that are more positive than you are. You have to be one of the least contributing, most negative people I have ever seen post here. Nothing you ever say is uplifting.
If you don’t like whats going on then thats fine but don’t come on here and kick shiz around in peoples faces when you have no clue what you’re talking about. If you did, then you know this kid is big, mean and going to be a great Gator. The only reason he doesn’t have 4-5 stars is because he did not do the rivals/scout camps. Hence the reason why many people don’t know about him. I can shove plenty of stars in your face and show you their subsequent failures. Just take a look at ESPN and the “Where they are today”. Most of our starters in the last 2 years were 3-4 stars, not 5.
Get off your horse and be happy we are closing strong!
Dude…..Dude. What are you 16? You sir are a blowhard and self-proclaimed authority on everything Florida. There’s another side to every comment and opinion and I am entitled to give that opinion or comment whether you like it or not. If YOU had anything other than opinion or conjecture you’d get off your ass and start your own website and back it up with facts, like Adam. How do you know he’s going to mean and great when you don’t even know his actual height and weight, much less his attitude. And I don’t have a clue? You blow sunshine up everybody’s ass and you think that makes you credible and a better contributor. I see reality for what it is. If it’s negative and you don’t like it, too bad…don’t read it.
This class will fill some needs, but unless we land couple of blue chippers like Jerrnigan, Maggitt, Grant etc
it will be a mediocre class. Considering the staff changes it’s not unexpected. Not negative just reality.
Unless we get some of those guys, like it or not, we will not be closing strong
Now take a deep breath, control your emotions, and try to respond without having a heart attack!
Everyone please calm down. Not going to be able to deal with this tomorrow…
Sorry Adam. Mr2dips jumped my ass because he doesn’t like my comments. He had it coming! Will temper my responses in the future as long as he minds is own business concerning me.
I hear you. My reply wasn’t just to you…it was to everyone. Calm down.
Far from 16 and I could care less what credentials or insight you think I try and portray. I have never said I am this or that. I simply post up the information I read and hear, in most cases, Adam is already aware. Whether it be good or bad, it’s posted. You on the other hand come on here and blast this kid saying we need play makers and not bodies to fill a scholarship. That comment right there shows me you have never watched a video on this kid. I wanted clarification on weight/height because it’s all over the place and they don’t do weigh ins on highlight videos. Per my post, I respect your opinion about things not looking good this year but you don’t have to attack a kid whose heart is all orange and blue.
To the issue at hand, I’m done arguing/bickering about this.
