Two weeks after returning to the AP Top 25, the Florida Gators are now just outside the top 10 of the college football rankings after coming back from 18 points down to beat Vanderbilt by 10 on Saturday afternoon on the road in Nashville, Tennessee. The Gators’ fourth straight win, third over an SEC opponent and second on the road has pollsters recognizing their vastly improved play after a Week 2 loss to Kentucky that looks way better now than it did at the time.

Florida checked in at No. 11 in the new edition of the AP Top 25, moving up three spots; UF is six spots behind an LSU team it beat just one week ago as the Tigers took down Georgia in dominant fashion on Saturday. The Gators saw a four-spot improvement in the Coaches Poll after entering at No. 16 a week ago, now slotting in at No. 12. Why the coaches (read: sports information directors) have a Florida team that beat an LSU team that beat Georgia behind an Oregon team that beat a Washington team that already had a loss to a now-unranked Auburn team is anyone’s guess.

Let’s take a look at the latest college football rankings after Week 7.

Loved watching LSU take down UGA. Something about Kirby Smart and describing his team’s practices as “we just go out and hit each other in the mouth” rubs me wrong. Don’t like Georgia. They’ve always been tough, and still are, but now they’re a little cocky for my taste.

    GO GATORS!!!
