The preseason edition of the Coaches Poll was released Thursday, and the Florida Gators will begin the 2018 season unranked despite receiving a significant number of votes in the top 25 rankings.

Florida placed 27th overall, one spot being SEC East rival South Carolina, with 135 votes, just 33 shy of placing in the poll. This marks the first time since 2015 and just the third time since USA Today took over the Coaches Poll in 1991 that the Gators will begin the season unranked. The other time that occurred was in 2014.

Florida opened the 2017 season ranked No. 16 in the Coaches Poll but finished the year outside of the top 25.
