Jason Day stands 6-foot and weighs in at 195 pounds, so it’s no wonder that he’s dwarfed by former Florida Gators center Patric Young, who spent a portion of his day Thursday working as Day’s unofficial spokesman at the 2016 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Jacksonville, Florida.
Young, a Jacksonville native who is interning at The Players for the second straight year (this time while recovering from knee surgery), got pulled into an ESPN online interview with Day, the field leader who shot a tremendous 9-under 63 to open the festivities on Thursday.
Though it must be difficult for him to find clubs to use, Young’s affinity for golf has grown rapidly over the years, particularly since his senior year of college at Florida. Thursday’s meeting with Day was most certainly a highlight for him, as evidenced by these tweets.
Coolest thing just ever happened to me right now
