If you thought the Florida Gators‘ 2018 football roster was complete, well, think again. Late Sunday, days after Florida began 2018 spring practice, the Gators received a commitment from junior college linebacker Umstead Sanders (Port Saint Joe, FL).

Sanders, who previously played at Hinds Community College, is rated as a three-star outside linebacker by 247Sports; he does not have a rating on the company’s composite rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 240 pounder will join the Gators as a preferred walk-on this summer. He visited UF over the weekend alongside his brother, 2019 five-star running back Trey Sanders, the No. 6 overall player in the nation who is currently playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

“Blessed to be apart of the gators,” Umstead Sanders wrote on Twitter when announcing his decision.

Florida was deficient depth-wise at linebacker a year ago, but it is unknown whether Sanders will be able to contribute off the bat. He was previously considering Texas A&M but looked headed to a non-Power Five program.

I am so proud of the recruiting done by Mullen and whole Gator staff. Regardless of the record this coming year, all Gators should be proud of what has been accomplished.

Let’s hope that he and his brother are tight. We can use Trey’s 5 Star offensive fire power. As we have seen at Bama, LSU and Ga you cannot have enough quality backs when playing an SEC schedule.

I like it. Would not be surprised to see this kid to be an-under-the-radar instant contributor . .then work his way to a scholarship . . then hopefully be joined by his brother.

    Go Gators!!!!

6 three stars currently 17 th in the country is the same mediocre recruting that coach Mac had .I understood mullins first recruting class not being top 10 but if he follows it up with another class in the 15 to 20 th ranked class the gators will never catch the top teams .
