The Florida Gators have returned to the top of the college basketball world. Advancing to a national championship game on Monday for the first time since 2007, No. 1 seed Florida clawed back from a rare halftime deficit to complete a 79-73 win over the No. 1 seed Auburn Tigers in the 2025 Final Four.

Senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr. made all kinds of history while posting a career-high 34 points in the biggest game of his life. Redshirt senior guard Alijah Martin rocked the Alamodome in San Antonio with one powerful slam dunk after another, including the highlight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament to this point, on his way to 17 points a complimentary effort that saw two of the team’s top three scorers send the Gators back to the Promised Land.

Now all that’s left is for Florida to reach Valhalla with eternity on the table for head coach Todd Golden’s squad should it claim one additional victory over another No. 1 seed, either Duke or Houston (to be determined Saturday night).

Before that comes to pass in less than 48 hours, former Gators the world over took to social media to praise Florida for its tremendous victory and what is now possible in Golden’s third season.
