Success in sports frequently breeds copycats, which means assistants of winning coaches being snatched up by other programs. The Florida Gators are certainly not immune to this natural occurrence, and it now appears as if head coach Todd Golden will be seeking to replace at least two notable members of his staff entering the 2025-26 season.
Assistant coach John Andrzejek has already been hired at Campbell, the program announced Thursday morning. Andrzejek, who spent the last two seasons at Florida, has already decided to remain with the program through the postseason
It now appears as if assistant coach Kevin Hovde will similarly be leaving to take the job at Columbia, according to Adam Zagoria, after spending three seasons with the Gators.
Golden, Andrzejek and Hovde all consecutively served as directors of basketball operations for the Lions under Kyle Smith during his run with the program from 2010-16.
Golden will now be tasked with replacing two trustworthy assistants along with three senior starting guards this offseason. That is far from his top priority at this time, of course, as Florida has four more games to win in the 2025 NCAA Touranment.
