The traditional National Signing Day is not long on newsworthy commitments these days, but the Florida Gators were nevertheless able to add a key piece to their Class of 2025 less than 24 hours before it began. Four-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny (Columbia, SC) ended his extended process on Tuesday by committing from the Gators in a flip from his long-term pledge to the Tennessee Volunteers.
Konanbanny (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) had been committed to Tennessee since Aug. 23, 2024, though Florida long trended for his services even ahead of the early signing period. Ultimately, the Gators won the battle as head coach Billy Napier’s staff did with a number of players they flipped from rivals and top Power Four programs over the last two months.
Rated the No. 323 overall player in the 247Sports Composite, he is listed as a three-star prospect and the No. 49 cornerback by 247Sports’ internal rankings. Still, Konanbanny adds a necessary developmental talent for a Florida secondary in need of depth coming out of the 2024 season.
This addition marks the 15th flip for Napier since the LSU victory. The pledge moves Florida up three spots to No. 7 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
